Guidance
to determine the size of gen-set
Do
you want the generator to power part/all of your home/office/caravan
etc?

dentify
all appliances and tools that will require generated power.
Determine
the wattage of each appliance and tool. Take particular care
if applying any type of motor load as they present special starting
needs that can require up to six times their running wattage.
Please refer to our typical power
table. We would recommend that you always use the figures
given in the starting column.
Total
up the wattage of above, bearing in mind that if you co-ordinate
your power usage wisely you do not have to operate everything
at once. Therefore for emergency domestic use you may not
necessarily have to operate your vacuum cleaner, dishwasher,
washing machine etc. For industrial/DIY use you may be able
to run only one or two tools simultaneously.
Convert
the total wattage into KW (1000 Watts = 1 KW) we would suggest,
although not absolutely necessary, that you over size your
generator by up to 20 % to give you a comfort factor. For
example, you have calculated your total load at 3 KW, budget
for 3.6 KW.
Remember: The
gen-set should be started first and a few seconds should
be given to allow the voltage and frequency to stabilise
prior to the load being connected.
